Consuelo LuzInternational singer/songwriter Consuelo Luz and her son, hip hop artist Max Paz, join together on this cross-generational musical journey through awareness of the costs of war and our present system to an embracing of the whole world.

"How Much Can Our Hearts Take" was first performed by Consuelo Luz at a concert in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in late 2002, as the threat of war once again gripped the world. The response from the audience was powerful and was followed by requests for a recorded version, but Consuelo felt the song was not complete yet. The next time she performed it (at a peace rally at the New Mexico State Capitol), Max Pazher 20 year old son, hip hop artist Max Paz, joined her with his rap. With the addition of his poetic and passionate expression, the song was ready to be recorded. Famed guitarist, Larry Mitchell, stepped in to produce the song.

Meant to be on Consuelo's next album, the song seemed to take on a life of its own. With war looming, a rough mix started getting air play in Taos, New Mexico, and requests started coming from other stations. Consuelo decided not to wait for the album's completion but to release it as a single.

The song lists the millions of casualties of wars and genocides and asks: "As we gasp for air, for kindness, for sanity, for life itself … how much can our hearts take …".

The song ends on a positive note as we wake up from the mass unconscious denial and follow our hearts to planetary transformation.
